Throughout his career, he has worked in a wide variety of high-stakes litigation, including commercial landlord/tenant disputes, class action plaintiff and defense, international arbitration, and trademark litigation. Daniel also worked at the California Public Utilities Commission doing administrative litigation, where he worked as a consumer advocate and brought enforcement actions against utilities when they misbehaved. Daniel has also written and spoken extensively about privacy law, with a particular focus on California law and the California Consumer Privacy Act, including hosting his own blog and hosting a privacy-focused podcast. This experience helps Daniel bring a varied perspective to his real estate and business litigation practice, allowing Daniel to understand the many issues that may be in play and ensure that his clients understand the big picture as the case moves forward.
"Rising Star"
Daniel has been recognized by Super Lawyer Magazine as one of Northern California’s “Rising Stars” from 2017-2021. He has also earned Martindale-Hubbell’s “AV Preeminent” designation, which is the highest peer rating standard available. According to Martindale-Hubbell, this designation is given to attorneys who are ranked at the highest level of professional excellence for their legal expertise, communication skills, and ethical standards by their peers.[1] Both the Super Lawyer “Rising Star” award and Martindale designations are based on anonymous reviews, anonymous nominations, and independent research by those companies. Attorneys cannot pay to obtain or influence these honors.
An Emphasis on Written and Oral Advocacy
Daniel has always emphasized the importance of advocacy through strong and effective writing and oral argument. While in law school, as a leading member of the UC Hastings moot court team, he had the opportunity to participate in the Hastings Appellate Project and represent a pro bono immigration client in the Ninth Circuit. As a result of their effective written and oral advocacy, he and his partner won their case and secured their client’s lawful permanent resident status. After graduating, Daniel worked as adjunct faculty at the college, teaching legal research and writing to first-year law students, training the next generation of law students and emphasizing the importance of written advocacy. Daniel also regularly volunteers for Hastings Moot Court, either as coach or a judge.[1] AV®, AV Preeminent®, Martindale-Hubbell DistinguishedSM and Martindale-Hubbell NotableSM are Certification Marks used under license in accordance with the Martindale-Hubbell® certification procedures, standards and policies. Martindale-Hubbell® is the facilitator of a peer review rating process. Ratings reflect the anonymous opinions of members of the bar and the judiciary.
